the love story
Lauren and Ethan first met on a double date, just not with each other.
One of Ethan’s friends invited Lauren, and Ethan brought someone else. The group drove to Sedona, where they spent the day exploring little shops and wandering together. In one of the stores, everyone started picking out blankets. Lauren found one she loved, and before she could think much about it, Ethan told her he wanted to buy it for her.
In that small, unexpected moment, she remembers thinking, “I love you.”
As they spent more time together, Lauren saw the way Ethan loved the people around him. She watched how he treated his family, the closeness they shared and the way that same love slowly became part of her life too. The more she saw, the more certain she became that he was someone who would choose her fully and wholeheartedly.
the proposal
When Lauren pictured getting engaged, she did not imagine anything grand. She only knew two things: she wanted a round stone, and she wanted the proposal to be a surprise.
Ethan planned a quiet evening near South Mountain Park and Preserve. They went to dinner first, then drove toward the mountain just before sunset. Ethan had carefully timed everything, checking when the gates closed so they could make it to the top.
But when they arrived, the gate was already shut.
For a moment, it seemed like the whole plan might be over before it began. But Ethan was determined. He did not want to leave and wait for another day.
By chance, he had two longboards in the back of his car. Together, they figured out how to use them to carefully get past the exit spikes and make their way up the mountain.
Once they reached the top, Ethan set his phone up like they were simply going to take a picture together. Instead, he got down on one knee.
Lauren was completely surprised.
The moment was everything she had hoped for: private, unexpected and just the two of them.
THE LITTLE THINGS THAT LAST
There are some things Lauren says she will always remember.
The blanket from Sedona. The drive up the mountain. The feeling of the ring on her hand for the first time. And the way Ethan whistles when he is happy.
Even now, if she sleeps in and hears him whistling while he is with their kids, she knows exactly what it means. It means he is happy. It means he is home. It means he is himself.
That is what Lauren loves most about him: the way he puts his whole heart into everything. Into his family, into the people he loves and into every season of life they have built together.
Their story was never about something grand or perfect. It was about two people who found each other unexpectedly and kept choosing each other from that moment on.
And now, every memory tied to her ring only makes it more meaningful.
